Enchanting Samburu

This is a special safari commencing from Samburu to connect you with the local community, then it follows with Nakuru so you can experience the scenic game drives and Lake Nakuru which is highly populated with thousands of flamingos and concludes with a visit to Naivasha for a Hell’s Gate memorable experience. All these experiences are meant to leave you in deep sate.

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Samburu National Reserve

Samburu Game Reserve is situated in the Northern Province of Kenya. The river Ewaso Nyiro (‘River of Brown Water’ in Samburu) is the lifeline and the nerve center of this Reserve and is bustling with a huge population of crocodiles. This game reserve is renowned for its rare species of animals that can only be found in this park, like –the long necked gerenuk, gravy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich and the Beisa Oryx. The park has an abundant species of birds and can turn even the most reluctant guest in to an avid bird watcher. The Samburu people occupy this area and they are pastoralists and nomads. Interesting ceremonies like initiation of adolescents to adulthood are some of the cultural rites that tourist may witness on this tour.

Following breakfast, board your safari vehicle and depart for Samburu National Reserve to arrive in time for lunch. After lunch you will have a short rest before you depart for your afternoon scenic game drive and spot the popular special five animals (Gerenuk, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Grevy’s zebra and the Beisa Oryx). You will then return to your lodge by late afternoon to celebrate your Samburu arrival with an exceptional sundowner experience. This will be followed with an overnight stay at an eco-rated lodge. Day 2: Samburu National Reserve

You will depart for an early morning game drive then enjoy a bush breakfast experience before your return to the lodge. You will then depart for a nature walk with a local professional guide where you will learn about flora, fauna and the diverse birdlife. Thereafter, you will plant a tree, return to your camp and prepare for a mid-morning game drive. This will be followed by lunch at the bush. You will continue with the game drive then go for a Samburu village visit and engage with the welcoming locals in some of the fun activities. Return to your camp later on for your dinner and overnight stay at the eco-rated lodge. (Fullboard)

Day 3: Samburu National Reserve – Lake Nakuru National Park

Nakuru is another of Kenya’s blessed lands. It’s a host to a number of unexplored destinations. Nakuru boasts of Lake Nakuru National Park. The park has large numbers of greater and lesser flamingoes that can be seen foraging in the shallow lake and give the lake an astounding pink look. The park also has vast wildlife that can be seen while on game drives. Welcome to Nakuru.

After your healthy organic breakfast, depart Samburu to arrive Nakuru in time for lunch at your lodge. After lunch and siesta, depart for baboon cliff which has superlative views out over the lake then continue with an afternoon game drive at the park and enjoy the abundance in wildlife celebrated in this park. Return to your lodge afterwards for a fun sundowner experience. Overnight at your eco-rated lodge or similar. (Fullboard)

Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park

Following your breakfast, depart for a nature walk with a local expert guide. You will enjoy the ecological diversity of bird life since, there are myriad of bird species that inhabit this location such as the African fish eagle, Goliath heron, hamerkop, pied kingfisher and Verreaux’s eagle among others of their kind. Afterwards go back to your lodge for relaxation and enjoy the lodge activities as you await your lunch. Depart for an afternoon game drive and return to your lodge late afternoon for your dinner and overnight stay at an eco-rated facility or similar. (Fullboard)

Day 5: Lake Nakuru National Park – Naivasha

Naivasha is a very popular tourist destination and is located off the shores of Lake Naivasha along the Nairobi–Nakuru highway. Some of the popular attractions in Naivasha include Lake Naivasha, the famous Hell’s Gate National Park where The Lion King movie was filmed, Mount Longonot National Park and the Crescent Island.

After breakfast depart for Naivasha and enjoy your preferred lodge activity as you await your lunch. Thereafter, depart for Hell’s Gate National park for a walking safari. Immerse yourself in the rich birdlife and wildlife offered by this park. Some of the bird species and wildlife you may come across are vultures, Verreaux’s eagles, augur buzzard, swifts, hyraxes, African buffalo, zebra, eland, hartebeest, Thomson’s gazelle, hyena, and baboons. The park is also home to serval cats and klipspringer antelope and Chanler’s mountain reedbuck. You will then return to your eco-rated lodge or similar by early evening for dinner and overnight. Day 6: Naivasha – Nairobi

Following your breakfast depart for Lake Naivasha to enjoy a morning boat ride. Afterwards you will then depart for Nairobi and on your way back enjoy the stunning views of the people’s unique lifestyle. Take a stop at the Great Rift Valley view point, sightsee the diverse landscape and feel the relaxing breeze. Arrive at the capital in time for your lunch at a renowned restaurant. You will then be transferred back to your residential hotel or to JKIA for your onward flight.
