Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Lake Turkana National Park

Lake Turkana National Parks are constituted of Sibiloi National Park and two Islands I.e. Southern Island and the Central Island National Parks, covering a total area of 161,485 hectares located within the Lake Turkana basin. The Lake is the most saline lake in East Africa and the largest desert lake in the world, surrounded by an arid, seemingly extraterrestrial landscape that is often devoid of life. Reasons for the park’s importance include its use as a stopping point for migratory birds, as a breeding ground for the Nile crocodile, hippopotamus, and snakes. It also contains fossils in the Koobi Fora deposits which are unique in the world.

You will be picked early morning by our representative from your residential hotel or from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after your briefing. You will then be transferred to Wilson airport for your scheduled flight to Lodwar. On your arrival, you will be met and transferred to your lodge. Enjoy the astounding views of the locals’ interesting lifestyle on your way. Spend the rest of the day on leisure in your luxurious lodge. (Fullboard)

Day 2: Lake Turkana National Park

Following your breakfast, you will depart for a guided walk with your local expert guide. After the walk you will return to your lodge for a short rest before your lunch. Afterwards you will be taken for a visit to the Turkana Community. Turkana locals call themselves ŋiTurkana (The Turkana) and the name means the people of Turkan. They are mainly semi-nomadic pastoralists. The Turkana are noted for raising camels and weaving baskets. On your trip to this community you will learn about their way of living and even engage in some of the interesting activities. You will then return to your luxurious lodge for an evening sundowner then follow with dinner and an overnight stay. (Fullboard)

Day 3: Lake Turkana National Park (Central Island)

On this day you will have your breakfast then depart for a boat ride to Central Island with your packed lunch. The Island is composed of more than a dozen craters and cones, three of which are filled by small lakes. The two largest lakes partially fill craters up to a kilometer wide and about 80 m deep, the floors of which are near sea level. The park is also host to the largest population of Nile crocodiles, a myriad of flamingos and more than 350 other bird species. After your picnic lunch you will continue with your sightseeing experience in this diverse habitat. You will later on return to your luxurious lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Lake Turkana National Park – Nairobi

Following your breakfast, you will be transferred to Lodwar airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Wilson Airport. On arrival you will be met by an Evergreen Holidays representative for a transfer to a renowned city restaurant for lunch then depart for an afternoon game drive in Nairobi National Park. You will then be transferred to your luxurious hotel for dinner and overnight or to JKIA for your onward scheduled flight. (Bed & Breakfast)
