NAIROBI NATIONAL PARK
This park covers an area of up to 117sqkm. It is the only park in the world located this close to its capital at a distance of approximately 7km2. The park was established in 1946 and was the first to be gazetted in Kenya. Still, despite its proximity to civilization and relative small size for an African national park, Nairobi National Park boasts a large and varied wildlife population. Migrating herbivores gather in the park during the dry season, and it is one of Kenya’s most successful rhinoceros sanctuaries. The park is a rolling wilderness of grasslands, streams, woodland and ravines, where lions hunt, black rhinos browse, white rhinos graze and giraffe do their slow motion cantering.
Best time to visit
December to March and July to October are the high season months for the park and are considered the best time to visit. However, the park has abundant wildlife and is open all-year round.
