LAKE NAKURU NATIONAL PARK

Lake Nakuru is a very shallow strongly alkaline lake covering a total area of 188sqkm. The park is located about 164km the North of Nairobi. It is set in a magnificent landscape of surrounding woodland and grassland next to Nakuru town. The landscape includes areas of marsh and grasslands alternating with rocky cliffs and outcrops, stretches of acacia woodland and rocky hillsides covered with a Euphorbia forest on the eastern perimeter. The park was established in the year 1961 and has an elevation of 1,754m (5,755 ft.) above sea level.

Best time to visit

Rainy seasons are generally not as wet as other areas and the roads are good all year-round. The best months to visit the park are June to September and January to March since the area is fairly dry.
