The most common mode of transport in the area is bicycles and motorcycle due to the narrow paths although its way easier to explore the town on foot. The architecture of the buildings have distinctive features as a result of mixing Arabs, Persians, Indian, European and African cultures. Stone Town was mainly constructed with coral stones which earned the town its name.
