KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK

Kidepo Valley National Park is located in the northeastern region of Uganda and covers an approximated total area of 1,442km2. The park is owned and managed by the Ugandan Wildlife Authority and was established in the year 1958. Popular rivers passing through the park are Kidepo river which is a seasonal river Karamoja region and Narus river on the south of the park which flows in northwesterly direction.

Most of the park is open tree savannah and heavily depends on Kanangorok hot spring which functions as its permanent water source. The park consists of the two major valley systems called Narus and Kidepo. Because of differences in rainfall with annual averages of 89 centimeters in Narus and 64 centimeters in the Kidepo basin, vegetation and animal populations vary between the two valleys

Best time to visit

The best time to visit the park is during the dry season which is between early July and Late August. This is when animals are more concentrated on the water points. However, the park is open for visit all year round for adventurous clients.
